History Museum
In February 2025, the Kukutana African American History and Culture Museum will be 40 years old. This will be a special Black History Month for all to enjoy! Join us in celebrating 40 years of museum exposure, history education and cultural heritage at our historical museum, where legacy memories, community outreach and cultural celebrations intertwine with new experiences to take us a little higher in diversity and inclusion. Kukutana means in Swahili, “To meet one another”.
Through the tears of seeing the barbaric shackles, the reading of chattel slavery in historical documents and the whips that tore into the skin of slaves, we shall not be moved. This is history that needs to be shared, uncovered and embraced to ensure it is not repeated. We are not going back…
Continue celebrating with us through engaging exhibitions, interactive workshops, living history reenactments and a vibrant array of special events designed to inspire and connect our rich community.
